Evening all.

I have a little one due in 8 weeks, and having looked around at some photography sites and blogs of people who have taken shots of their children growing up, it's really made me want to get back into it so I can capture all the special moments.

I already have a 30D with a kit lens and cheap Tamron 70-300mm lens, so I have a capable camera for learning but for the sort of photos I want to take and the subject matter, are there any sites or books you guys would recommend in particular?

Also, any lenses or equipment such as a flash or anything like that that is worth buying to help with producing better photos once I know what I'm doing?

Appreciate any input as always :)

Thanks guys

Youtube, endless amount of videos to learn from :)

Tony Northrup
Tim Grey <-- highly recommend for PS and LR

You definitely need a flash capable of bouncing off the ceiling it will improve your indoor babby pictures tenfold.

^ Ok great, thought as much, thanks :) Any you'd recommend as a starter point?

Thanks Sh4rkie, will check those out :)

Proper Canon Sppedlites cost an arm and a leg, A Yongnuo 560 could be had for about £50 but is manual only (it doesn't adjust the flash output automatically for exposure).

I have a Nissin 622 which cost £95 a couple of years ago and works on automatic.

I did have a Jessops 360 which are sometimes cheap on special offer £70-80, but it stopped working after a year even with little use, I took it to bits and it was very ropeyley constructed inside, the Nissin seems better quality.
