Hi, hoping to go to prague in the next month or 2 with a few mates. Anyone been? what were you experiences?

thanks :)

My flatmate is there at the moment.

Basically all the advise he's been given from prior visitors is:

Don't goto the high streets bars, go to the back street ones as the pints are about £2 cheaper. (making them about 30p).

What more do you need to know? ;)

www.hostelelf.cz is where I like to stay. Dirty, dodgy, scummy but cheap beer and great people make for a good time.

Spent 6 days there in 2004, would get up, go out to see something and get back about 3-4pm, then hit the beer, go out for food then come back and hit more beer, maybe go to a club, go to bed 4-5 am (one night was 8am) and continue. Was a great end to my backpacking trip :)

I went just after Xmas 2003, didn't really appreciate it because things weren't great with the ex at the time :(

I stayed outside the city centre in a suburb called Pankrac (think thats spelt right). Transport when I was there was around £1 a day for a pass on the metro or a few quid for a taxi.

Lots of backstreet bars, proper pilsner when I was there was 30p for half a litre, no idea what its like now.

Worth a look around, seemed to have a mixture of modern and gothic buildings, and you could see the Soviet era influences as well.

My cousin is going in the summer with his mates. They are staying at a place called 'Madam Sophies' and he swears its a hostel :D

me and 5 mates went last year and had such a good time theres 8 of us going back this year.

Some night clubs to check out are Duplex and Zlatystrom, oh and they are actually night clubs and not dodgey knocking shops lol

We went in January and whilst I enjoyed it, I wouldn't go back.

I dunno, the night life was kinda crap. We went to this club and it was empty and kinda dodgey. We didn't find a decent pub the whole 5 days that we could get cheap beers in.

But then again we enjoyed the shopping and some of the restaurants we went to were really nice indeed. We also discovered a posh bar that served a massive range of cocktails. They were really nice but really expensive.

Expensive!?!?!

I think the most I paid for a beer over there was about £1.50 and that was in a swanky night club. Most places were between about 70p and £1.

Best thing you can do is get away from the touristy type bars and find the bars/restaurants that the locals use to get your self fuelled up before moving on to the more expensive tourist type places. You usually get better beer and food and is always cheaper. We started our nights out in a little bar about 10 mins walk out of the oldtown square, it worked out about 60p a pint and the local who drank in there were really friendly.

January probably wasn’t the best time of year to go. You would have probably been better in the summer or just before Christmas if you like it lively

Brothers there now he just txted me

Found a Pub that do 5% lager 40p a litre

sounds like its going well

lol

Been twice with mates, had a great time each time. Going again in a few months.

Stayed in a Penthouse apartment each time, right of Wes. sq.

I'm looking to go in early December for my 21st, lively you say?

It'll just be a two nighter, looking for somewhere clean, handy and relatively inexpensive. What enticing beverages may I be able to sample over there? This sounds interesting!

been 3 times , love the place

if going with a female then don't stay on a fri / sat night as it is overrun by stag parties

my preferred hotel is the Josef , great hotel in a fantastic location

i opened this thread hoping it was an offer of a free trip...
bah
it looks great, everyone i know who's been (from friends my age, to colleages 50+) have had a storming time - but yeah, as has been mentioned, weekends = stag night capital of europe (apparently) so keep any nice lady friends away, well unless they're into that sort of thing
