Is openDNS a good solution for locking out access of sites like facebook and youtube or would I be better off using some sort of parental control software?

Thanks :)

add an entry in your hosts file.

It the easiest and fastest way of doing this.

However if your trying to block these sites from someone who knows there way around windows you might want to look elsewhere. I have no experience with opendns so can't comment.

Hope it helps.

Hmm, the difficulty is that the users don't have the knowledge but I'm pretty sure they'll know someone who does, what I really need is something with additional password protection, will check on the routers setup when I am there next.

Just for info, it's not kids, it is a shop pc that the owner wants locked down as he has been getting warnings from BT that he has exceeded his 1GB monthly limit several times (that being a whole other discussion of course :)) and we both know it is down to staff spending most of their day using the internet to watch stuff on youtube and play on facebook etc instead of actually working. They do however need some internet access.

Thanks all.
