Want To Move But Recently extended my contract...best package out there?

I used to be on the BT service where they gave me 2mb broadband but then i decided that i wanted to upgrade my line and so gave BT a call and they said yea sure we can give you 8mb for 25 a month and we'll give you the homehub etc etc. This was about 12 days ago and ive recently found that im not getting the full usage out of my line, in fact its the same as my 2mb line or even worse...so whats the No swearing! point right?

My question is two fold: 1 can i cancel the contract with them?
and 2 what is the best isp that does not throttle your connection or shape the traffic? i hear that virgin is pretty good, whats the consensus on all of this?

If your only getting 2mb on Max, you proberly wont get any better on another isp, There is many variables that can reduce your speed, Its not always down to the Isp, Could be Line Attenuation, Snr, Bad Cabling.

As in Isps that dont throttle, Im with Zen, been with them about 4 Months and never had a problem.

I have been with BT before but switched as I had constant downtime, thankfully I only had a 6 month contract. Just reduce the line back down to your origanal. They obviously gave you a good service?

When you move from 2mb to up to 8mb you would have started a new 12 month contract with BT.
