Want to run 3 monitors for games

Hi , i'm building a new rig and have 3 Dell U2410 monitors which come with DVI-D, HDMI + Display port.

I have 2 gtx 580 in sli which have DVI-D , HDMI and display port outputs.

Is it just a case of putting monitor 1+2 into first graphic card (2 slots) and 3rd monitor into graphic card 2.Then setting up through nvidia software.

Would DVI-D be the best connection for this?

Yes and yes

The connection type shouldn't make much difference, I did use 3 DVID but have recently gone to 1 DVID and 2 HDMI connections - it's neater round the back of the PC but the HDMI screens don't display through POST until into Windows splash screen
