Can you guys please spec me a pretty good watercooling kit for an intel core 2 duo or perhaps even quad core?

My PC budget is around £1500 and i would love to test out a good watercooling kit. Since this is my first time i'd rather not have to do much "modding" to the case, which i hope to be this one:

should i just go for a case with an inbuilt kit? or would i get a lot more satisfaction out of doing it myself :)

Not sure what the budget for the kit would be... I guess whatever's needed for it to be a decent enough cooling system for at least a couple of years.

Thanks guys.

That case = Fail

Get something like a stacker 810 if you don't want to do much modding.

As for parts I'll leave that to the other people that know better however the swiftech kits are pretty good.

Yeah i thought so, i just always end up basing cases on how they look rather than their build quality :P

Another question is:
Would i be better off clocking a q6600 to 3.2Ghz, or a E6600 to nearer 4?
If they were clocked the same, would i only see a difference in multi-core applications? So would the E6600 be a better bet?

I think it really depends how much you want to spend on the cooling, a kit is probably the cheapest way to do it. I just finished building my first water cooled PC and I got all the parts separately, it was quite a fun way to do it and a little bit experimental but probably also the most expensive way to do it.

If you want the best performance stuff the D-tek Fuzion CPU block and a Thermochill radiator are both very good, as for the rest I'm not sure what are generally considered the best to go for.

If you get a nice big case it makes it a lot easier to install too!

Eheim or Hydor pump, old car heatercore as rad (will be much cheaper than and better performing than special WC rads), Dangerden or D-tek customs block. I'm a bit old school :o

again, that case = fail. how did you come to the conclusion that, that case was good in any category? (except failure)

people might dis-agree but thermaltake sharks are meant to be good for watercooling at around the same price of that monstrosity.

or could always go with the out standing build quality of a lian li such as the PC-70

another vote of failure for the case mate sorry !!

However, watercooling is possible regardless...

I ddint want to hack up my Lian Li Pc65 too much but wanted to install watercooling. I went to B+Q brought a sheet of MDF and made a rad box for the rad/pump etc.

End result is th e sameself contained watercooling system, i had to dremmel a hole in the bottom of my case and thats the only modding needed barring the holes for the additional 3 x120mm fans in the rad box..

well why not use that the 65? sounds fine tbh, if you want a bigger rad then just stick it on top and put two holes in the back will be barely noticeable except the tubing
