Hello,

My 5 year old Toshiba Satellite is starting to show it's age!

It's still like new exterior wise, but I would like to get a new HD, RAM and maybe CPU. But I have no idea what will be compatible. And if it is worth upgrading, or will it be cheaper to just get a new laptop all together..?

Current specs:
TOSHIBA SATELLITE A300-1J1
- Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 @2GHz
- 3GB DDR2 RAM (667 MHz)
- 250 GB

This HD?

RAM?

Worth it tho for only and extra 1GB?

Is the CPU even up-gradable? This is probably where the main expense will come from I guess...

No point in changing the CPU, if even possible, as a 2GHz C2D is still considered reasonable.

If the motherboard supports sata2 then a quality SSD and a fresh windows install will perk things up.

Cool. Thanks!

How would I find out if the motherboard supports sata2?

I think it probably is Sata2 looking at the Intel chipset specification but you could double check with a program like HWinfo.

Might be a good idea to see if the bios is up to date as well.
