Hi guys. I have the following in my computer:

OCZ Gold 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Low-Voltage Dual Channel Kit

I built it in summer 2010. I think the RAM needs updating. In any case I want to update it. I was thinking of getting:

OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C7 1333MHz Dual Channel Kit. I was going to get it to keep it all OCZ, but are there any downsides to maybe getting other ram with higher speed? I am not sure what the 10666c9/12800/14400 stands for.

What do you think is best. I was going to go for two 8GB sticks to go with what I have in my system. What do you recommend?

Thanks!

You mean you want to replace your current 4GB with another 4GB? You will notice no difference between the kits and it would be a complete waste of time.

If you are adding the new sticks to the old ones, I would say you can certainly do that, however if the new ones are higher speeds or better timings, you will have to run the faster sticks at the slower speeds. So it might be worth just replacing the two sticks you have now with some other RAM.

Depends if you want 8GB or 16GB:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Patriot Intel Extreme Masters 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (PVI316G160C9K) £71.99
1 x GeIL Black Dragon 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GD38GB1600C11DC) £31.99

Yes i meant I want to add some ram to my current setup, but you are probably right. I would like to go for the fastest RAM my M4A89GTD PRO MOBO will allow. So I could go for the patriot if I could.

The cooler I have is an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler, my ram currently touches the cooler slightly lol, so i will need to remove and reseat the cooler and thermal if I remove my RAM.
