Want to wipe hard drive and upgrade OS, would this USB suffice to save my data?

I know you can install new OS without wiping, but something happened during partition which blocked off 900GB of my space, so I'd like to try and sort that out and also clean up and start again with better file organization.
The problem is that i'm a poor student, would this memory stick work out for me if I just want to keep the files on for a couple of days, or is it not worth the risk?

Do you really want to wait "10 - 20" business days for that USB stick to be delivered from China? It also claims it has read and write speeds of "3m/s" and "2m/s" respectively..

I think I'd stay clear :P Can you not borrow an external HDD or flash drive off a friend for a couple days?

And in the description it says 8GB.
