I wanted a Android tablet without needing to upgrade my phone,But i was told by a couple of people to stay away from Android tablets as they are not as good as their phones is this true? I was told if i want to get a tablet go for windows like the Linx 1020.

It's true that Android tablets are not anywhere near as polished as their phone experience. I own a few of them (part for job, part because have you seen how nice the Tab S screens are? OLED screens are amazing) and enjoy them but they don't enjoy good OS support, App support or sell big enough to make changes to the situation they are in. I'd rate them "OK but not great". The majority of ours are used for netflix machines at home, at work I use them with google docs. Some games benefit greatly (hearthstone etc..) from the extra space. If you can get an equally good iOS tablet aside from dealing with the extra walls put up, the experience is generally better imo but you will be trading that flexibility that Android shines with.

I never really wanted a windows tablet i would rather get a laptop if i was going to do that but ive always liked android for the apps side windows you just dont get good apps.

I was thinking about getting something cheap like the Lenovo Tab 2 A10,but now im a bit put off.

Really it will just be a expansion of my phone so just basic stuff light games emails the net storing pictures&music.

Purely use my Galaxy Tab S as a media device, if I ever needed it for anything more I'd probably consider an iPad Air, but the screen on this tablet is unrivaled in my opinion.

It's true sadly. Google seem to not pay any attention to Android when it comes to tablets and their software. On the hardware end you have tablets with lovely screens and hilarious battery life.

I myself went from an iPad 3, which I sold this January to a Samsung Tab S8.4. It has the most amazing screen (amoled), micro sd support, nice thin build yet battery life is poor on stock and custom roms. I get about a day or two out of it. Aside from this it is a superb tablet.

The Nvidia Shield K1 is an excellent tablet, specs wise. I did have one for a few days but again battery life was very poor and mine took over 13hrs to charge - must have been a hardware issue.

The best tablet out there is Google's own Pixel C. Excellent everything, just let down by software mostly meant for phones.

I just recommend iPad's if anyone asks me. They gawp at the price (whilst holding their iPhones ) but there really is nothing else.

not a great time to buy a windows tablet either.
they wont be as cheap as the linx, but when the snapdragon 835 is released q1 2017, we should see new windows tablets that not only run the modern apps, but also run all normal windows software. Which is a pretty big thing. smaller, cheaper, better battery life, windows tablets. Due to snapdragon having the modems and everything else built into the chip, with far better sleep power saving compared to intel chips.

Hi

In my family we have a number of android tablets and they are all fine. Like most things I guess it's what you want to use one for, but if it's streaming media, general surfing and email then you will be fine. I recently brought my son a Samsung tab A 10.1 and for the money is an excellent tablet. I've never used an iPad so cannot compare app support, but the Google store has always been fine for me.

I dont think im going to need anything superfast,Its mainly because im on my phone a lot so running down my phone battery a lot quicker. It would be nice to have a larger screen with it just being for android and not the phone side of things if you know what i mean.

I ended up going Windows tablet but paired up with a decent smart phone as it gives me far more versatility having an x86 desktop and being able to browse proper desktop websites, etc. and the phone for most app type stuff (and as a portable hotspot/tether for internet on the tablet if not in range of wifi, etc.) Android on tablets is a so-so experience and Windows on tablets lacks any kind of real app functionality so both in isolation aren't an amazing experience if you want to do anything more than casual use.

Ive gone with the Samsung Tab A 10.1,Can anyone suggest what sd card to get as i dont know about the speeds thanks.

I've always used the SanDisk Ultras, a good 32gb (micro)SDHC or 64gb (micro)SDXC is excellent value for money right now.

My Nvidia Shield is no different from the phones apps with the exception that a couple split the screen when in landscape mode.

I've no idea why they're considered inferior to the phones to be honest - they and their apps seem just as good as on my Nexus 6P. I feel the iPads at work are much more of a pain in the arse, but I might have a different opinion if Apple's products weren't an absolute car-crash to manage.
