its probably just me but the X1900XT guide here http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17534763 isnt making sense to me :(

i know how to set stuff manually but for some reason i just cant figure out how to set a 2D and 3D profile so that it switches to these automatically without me having to worry about it in future :( mainly because the info and available options in that guide doesn't seem to correspond with the options ATT is giving me.

i miss my 9800 pro, it was so much easier.

the way x1900xt cards run heat wise, if you don't know what your doing then don;t bother overclocking it. you will just end up damaging hardware.

If your having probs with att or ati tool, try Rivatuner

Its all ive ever used on my x1900, as its easy to use, bug free and auto detects 3d apps 100% :)

mav, i am aware of how to manually overclock an X1900XT, its setting these damn profiles thats bugging the crap out of me :(

as for heat, my X1900XT runs 11oC cooler than any other brand of X1900XT card, lovely HIS.

Under where you set the clocks is "auto clocks changing" or something.

2nd entry in the hardware menu IIRC.

I think you can work it out from there.

(If this is what your missing, what is it with people? Why can't you root around and have a look, a lot of us didn't need help to use this app  )

no it isnt what im missing, nice assumption on your part. i didnt say i couldnt overclock it, i said i couldnt figure out how to set a profile up as the notes in the guide and the layout of the ATT tool i have seem to be different. but of course your unhelpful sarcasm is always welcome.

incidentally the guide refers to "overclocking" not the Auto overclocking which is the incorrect place to go to for overclocking as this simply enables the usage of profiles that have already been created.

It allows you to set profiles that have already been created as 2D/ 3D clocks. So make a profile with your max overclock and set it as the 3D clock, then make another overclock with the stock 2D clock or lower and set that as the 2D clock.

Then it just changes when you enter a 3D game to the 3D profile, and when you return to the desktop it should set it to the 2D clock, as long as the ATi Hotkey Poller service is enabled.

I'm with Concorde on this tbh, not only is it pretty obvious from just looking at the menu, this same info is available without you having to post here.

My question was completely genuine, no sarcasm at all.

And if you had actually looked in there, then you'd have seen that thats where you select the profiles you want for 2D and 3D

Seriously, I was using ATi Tool when I was 13, I didn't need any help there so why does anyone else need help? Maybe there is a few details someone doesn't get, but when they get stuck because they haven't looked around is beyond me.

EDIT: BTW I would disable Auto Hotkey Poller, ATT disables it anyway at start IIRC.

Thing is, isn't the hotkey poller what detects the change from 2D to 3D clockspeeds, or does ATT have another way which doesn't need it?

The automatic over clocking IS the clock change ;) because the service only controls core voltage, mem speed and core speed. You HAVE to have ATT auto overclocking working or you don't get your custom mem voltages.
