I'm in the purely hypothetical stages of buying a laptop, and before I actually start to look at specs etc, I have a strange query.
I work as a sound technician for concerts, and I always see other techies/roadies using Mac laptops (MacBooks? PowerBooks? iBooks? I don't know what they're called nowadays!). I like the fact that they're very sleek, and simple. If and when I buy a laptop, I'm gonna want something similar, something relatively small and relatively light/thin. I'm certainly not going to want a desktop replacement, so I guess there's plenty of smaller laptops out there.
The other thing is, I like the look of the Mactops, the white or silver casing with the glowing Apple on the lid, and I was wondering whether any clever modders had made a shell for a laptop which had something else glowing on the front, like a Windows symbol, for instance. I think, irony wise, it'd be kinda cool/funny to have a glowing Windows symbol instead of an Apple, and I can't imagine that I'd be the first person to have that idea, so if anyone's ever seen one like that before, please let me know!
Finally....People might be asking, if you like their appearance so much, why not just buy a Mac? Well, for all of their charms, I can't get used to their OS, and from the 'Are you a Mac or a PC' adverts, I'd say I'm most certainly a 'PC', a geeky, boring kinda guy!
I like being able to find software easily, and I just...well...I doubt I'll ever 'switch'. So unless I just buy a Mactop and install Windows on it (which I hear you can do these days?!) I'd love to hear some suggestions!
