Hi all,

I am having trouble with my PC.
The issue I am having is that my PC is not recognising my 1tb hard drive and this has never happened before.

The issue seems to be an intermittent issue of which is annoying.

I have bought a new 1tb HDD and same story.

Yet when I put my 250gb back up drive in, the BIOS picks it up fine and it seems to be only the drive that has the Operating system installed on that I'm getting this problem.

Could this be a failing mobo, and BIOS is up to date.

Cheers,
Shane.

Are your chipset and sata drivers up to date?
Tried plugging into a different sata port or using another data cable?

If the drive with the OS does`nt get recognised in the bios, it`s safe to assume it does`nt boot. If so, what message are you getting when the OS fails to boot.
Is your hdd set to IDE or ACHI in the bios?

It is set to achi and it seems to be intermittent as I say and when it doesn't boot I get the insert boot media. And it seems to behaving ATM but the issue has happened on 2 separate drive with windows installs on them. And my old drive was faulty anyway.

a 500w corsair but thats a few months old

At least it`s not a Psu issue. Other than running in IDE mode, I can`t think of anything else, other than the sata drivers. Looking on the MSI site, there have been no new updates for drivers in quite a while.
See how it goes with IDE enabled, if it still happens, then post back and maybe someone else may have an answer for you.
