I was wondering if any one would like to take a look at my website and check for the following:

Spelling mistakes

Grammer

Bugs!

Broken links

Comments and sugggestions

I'm not to fussed aboiut the PC gaming section ad the moment, it's more the services that I'm concerned about.

I have an advert going in yellow pages in August so it needs sorting by then.

Please email me on [email protected]

Many thanks

Only loaded up the first page and got a missing banner image which also occurred on other pages (some prob with one of the images in your rotatebanners.php list?).. :

Front page:

accommodate to all your PC needs -> accommodate all your PC needs / cater for all your PC needs

flexibly -> flexibility

PC related -> PC related content

hop to see you soon -> hope to see you soon

Frequently asked questions -> Frequently Asked Questions

My Services page:

Welcome to "My Services" page -> Welcome to my "Services" page

services I provided -> services I provide

with compromise to the service -> with no compromise to the service

Also quite a big one on the contact page:

bluyonder.co.uk > blueyonder.co.uk?

:)

Honestly..... website is over complicated and unprofessional looking, its also massive on my screen and im using a 1280x1024 resolution, most people will be using 1024x768 or 800x600 and it will be gigantic on their screens. Lacking proper descriptive page titles and the page design is inconsistent, i would also say over use of images which reduces the load time.

Id think about who you're targeting with the website and adjust accordingly, neater, compact and consistent website would be much more useful and easy to understand, particularly for someone who is obviously not great with computers if they're looking for help.

The information you have in that site is vast, which is superb. It's all well written information which is going to serve you well.

However, your site is going to be a window to your company, and is probably going to be a source of revenue for you, so I'm going to be blunt.

It isn't a very nice looking site. I'm not going to spout off that the site looks amateurish and stuck together, because I appreciate that PC Hardware is your skillset, not website design.

However, the internet is extremely saturated with sites that focus around PC Hardware and services, so your website is going to have to look professional if you want your business to be reflected as the same.

I would suggest either having a look at some other PC hardware sites, to see how nicely their products and services are layed out, with a nice structure and colour scheme, and trying one yourself. Or asking someone who knows a thing or two about web design to spend some time with you going through it with you.

Please don't take these negative comments the wrong way, it's just that for any company that advertises online, the quality of their website can make or break their company.

Yes.

If you're paying for an ad in the yellow pages i'd seriously consider throwing a bit of money towards your website too. There are plenty of good people who'd help you out for not too much money and give you a much more professional image.

Another point, your pricing structure is far too complicated/confusing. It's not clear which prices are a one off and which are per hour etc.. You'd be much better off simplifying it all, give an hourly rate for your time + set costs for travelling to different areas (though tbh you'd be better off adding a quid onto the hourly rate and giving everyone the same price) then list any extras below. That way everyone knows where they stand.

I'd also consider taking all the personal rubbish off the site too, or at least not have it intermingled with the professional side of things. Maybe take all your personal stuff and put it on separate pages/maybe a different subdomain with links from the bottom of the main site.

Edit: Another thing, why isn't your email address @huddysworld.co.uk ? And why is the 'Forums' link from your main menu link to these forums?

On the plus side, the 'Services' section seems quite complete, could maybe do with formatting the content a little better though.

Not having a go, honest ;)

Mick.

.. no offense taken.. be blunt as you want.. this is why i've posted..

I wanted something simple and straight.. Nothing fancy and "in yer face".. I have looked at other PC websites and some are dire.. Just a page of text.

If things take off, then yes, it will probably be worth asking for professional advice but in the meantime I don't have the budget.

keep the comments coming.. I'll print them off and will take all notes into serious consideration.

BEEP! FAQ warning :p :)

Point taken but it's not promoting a business merely asking advice etc..

I've removed the link and ask a passing don to delete.

Apologies

thanks for the feedback i did get.

iCraig.. i would be interest in speaking to you if you are interested.

Oh, sorry, I didn't mean that - I meant the bit in the post directly above mine - it's a bit of a grey area perhaps but you shouldn't really make offers to pay people on the forum so far as I know. Better to be safe than sorry :) (I've been caught out once :p  )

Yeah... at the moment you have too many links and are possibly giving them too much irrelevant information. Straight away i would lose My PC, PC Gaming, A+ Guide, Folding @Home, Links, Forums, they're simply not needed on a business website, feel free to make a seperate site of your own with these on and maybe link to that, but dont combine the two. I would also lose the contact page and put all the contact information on the front page of the site, dont make them go looking for it. The back button probably isnt required either and just adds more clutter.

You have a lot of different graphics with different fonts, there are two different huddys world logos at the top for instance and the key/letter graphics are difficult to read. A good step to begin with if you dont want to make any major changes is to lose the very top logo entirely and just have the simple blue one, looks more professional.
Consistency is key, all pages should looks the same and have a 'house style' (set font and layout for all pages or content of same types, etc) so that people know they are still on the same site (might sound daft but its true!) and for ease of understanding and navigation.

And as mentioned before, you really need to think about the resolution of the screen the person may be viewing it on. At 800x600 you actually have to scroll horizontally to view the whole site as it is, and it takes at least 3 or 4 turns on the mouse wheel to get to the bottom!

Hope this helps

thanks for all the feedback.. I' re-considering the site in particularly the hobby stuff..

If i was to just keep it as the services only (forgetting the rest) would that be better? I quite like the "power button" on the front page but have that only..

Good point about the banners.

I might keep huddysworls for my hobby stuff and create a new domain for the business. I've never really thought of a name..

how does Admiral Computers Sound? It has an advantage of being high in the yellow pages and the domain is free.

What do you think?

Personally, id lose the top logo and probably lose all the link images at the bottom as well, you have the buttons at the top, you dont need two sets of links to the same thing. Id also move the buttons to below the top logo. Possibly flip them on the vertical (so the rounded edges face down) and make sure the button bar's overall width is the same as the top logo and try and blend/match the colours between the buttons and the top logo.

Maybe think about a background colour as well, a light blue instead of white, which in my opinion leaves a harsh contrast to pretty much anything.

Split my services into the individual categories and links to these sections from the front page (top buttons). As before, give your contact information at the bottom of the very front page and a small link to the terms and conditions at the bottom as well, you can then also have your contact information and terms on the bottom of every other content page.

I think Admiral Computers sounds fine, its memorable and as you say, will come high in the list in the yellow pages. It'll also be easier to remember than huddys world and more suitable.
