Hi all, jst watched the 2142 vid and it made me want 2 upgrade from my ruddy laptop finally...what i was thinking tho is that thier is no real point in me buying anything till the games are out..so im wondering..how much do you guys think i need 2 set asside (save) for a nice pc that will run Crytek on high settings. Im going 2 w8t as long as poss until it it released but what kinda price range you think i will be looking @?

I want the same..

your going to be spending at least a grand on that pc though.. especially since you can expect the new DX10 cards to be £400 or so for the top of the range one when released.

a rule i've always seen to make sense.

"The time to upgrade is when you want to, 'cus theres always something better down the line"

I'm half with concorde on this, as they wont actually begin to use DX10's features properly until spring/summer 2007.

one rule im using is dont upgrade until the title is out..my freind spent around 1500 on a pc 2 run ut2007 about 3months ago. yes it will run it but all he plays atm is source..he had a 6800gt then with a nice set up. kinda defeats point i think..i play wow atm and my lappys 9700 is fine but thier is no point spending 1000now i mite as well w8t till its out and i know whats best ect ect ect...jst cant w8t :) any idea when Crytek 2 is out btw?

crisis can run on dx0 with current gen hardware, and looks hardly any diff to the dx10 movies of it that are floating about...

bf 2142 willl run perfectly (well, ok apart from the game itself if its like bf2) on current hardware, roll on the summer beta :D

IMO dx10 wont take off for a good half year to a year. Much like dx9 took a year or so to implement..

cysis (crytek2?) ships same time as vista iirc? If not, before i heared that it was due for winter.

some people will get it, and be able to play like 2/3 games. Hopefully they fuel the fire so people develop more games... but for mainstream, no point waiting.

I'm going to be using a cheap £30 graphics card until the DX10 one's come out.

I'm having 2nd thoughts now after reading peoples opinions in this thread.

I've never really been one to buy the latest technology as soon as it comes out. I tend to let the product and market settle down.

I've got some thinking to do. :p

Both ATI and NVIDIA have fully admitted the advent of the dx10 cards isnt so much dx10, its simply doing dx9 better. When these cards come out, they will be the fastest dx9 capable cards out there for quite a while with the bonus if being able to handle dx10 content. Thus, they are well worth the buy.

Why the hell anybody is buying an 9750 i have no idea. Total waste of money if you ask me as it will be obselete in a couple of months.
