This is kind of odd request but this is a good place to ask with all you extremely talented guys here. I need a new desk and I am really fussy (sets off my ocd :( ), desk needs to be big enough to put my Akasa Mirage case / Monitor(buying 19-21inch LCD soon) and keyboard / mouse on it. Must be wood, feel nice, well made and have a cool paint job.

Anyone here able to take up the job or know any places? I can give you a pretty good idea what I want (Inc pics), I've searched online quite a bit and they just all suck or don't need my requirements :(

If you would like to chat on msn its [email protected]

And surely this shouldn't violate OCUK competitor rules? :p

I would consider getting a desk you like and modding it your self.

I brought a £60 desk, real simple design but solidely build, wobbly tables just do my head in.

I've added a backboard to the table to hid the cables behind as well as a shelf on the back that my sub sits in. Also drilled a couple of 50mm holes on the table work top, for putting the cables into.

Added a nice little hidden compartment aswell to store my smoking gear away from peeking eyes.

Best thing about most tables is that they are built from wood, which is an extremely easy material to work with.

Other than that try making a design up with dimensions and go look for a local wood workshop.

Me and DIY don't get on :(

look in yellow pages for a local carpenter and ask for a quote for the type, size, look etc of the table you want

Im a carpenter but tbh the cost of me coming down to cornwall would mean my prices wouldnt be as competitive as a local carpenter/joiner....like suggested use the yellow pages...but surely you know someone in the trade? most people know a good chippie/builder type person

local carpenter isnt going to work for less than £150 a day unless you find a retired type fellow.

We have one working here at the moment doing the odd bit and thats still £80 a day.

i would say if you want a custom made desk then your looking at around £300 sovs plus materials......Have you tried mfi they have some great modular ones
