Hey, guys.

I've joined up to the forum as I need some advice on a new gaming PC I want to put together. Since I haven't the slightest clue about the most up-to-date products on the market, I'm not really sure what kind of parts I should be looking for to fit my bidget and requirements.

I'm looking for a gaming PC on a budget of around £500-£600. I would like to be able to run games like C&C:RA3 on high spec if possible as well as many other games (such as COD4 or Left 4 Dead).

I asked a couple of friends and they put together two similar specs for me, but I'm still unsure which one to go for. I'll put them up:

CPU: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-271-IN&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=793
GPU: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-176-AS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1009
RAM: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-172-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1387
Mobo: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-171-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1155
HDD: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-245-WD&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=940

PSU: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-026-OC

Or

Mobo: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-280-AS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1155
RAM: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-023-GS
GPU: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-176-AS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1009
HDD: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-206-SE&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=
PSU: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-037-OC&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=
Case: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-155-CM&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=

Now, which of the two is better overall, and which would would be more suitable for me? Also, could you recommend any changes to the parts listed? Is the processor listed the best I could get for my budget? How about the graphics card?

I'd love to know what you think. Thanks, guys. You'll really help me out.

Also, would you suggest an anti-static kit when puttig this together? I've used 'em before, but I'm not entirely sure if they're necessary.

Thanks again

- Dave.

The graphics card would probably need changing if you're looking to play up-to-date games. for like £20 more, you can get an ATi HD4870 which will be more suitable for the newest games.

It does also help if you tell us your absolute maximum budget, there's a few people on here, who know the ins and outs of every component and will tell you everything you need to know =]

Intel Setup

AMD Setup

Both setups will perform well in games and will overclock easily aswell.

i'd go with ro55o's tri core spec.

no real need for the anti static kit just be careful how you handle things, always edges, don't slap ya finger prints over the pcb etc and you'll be fine.

Honestly, guys, I can;t thank you enough. I can't belive you'd go out of your way to make those posts. You've really helped me out.

I think I'll probably go for the AMD setup, since it's a little cheaper and I am on a budget.

Genuinely, though, thank you.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I've ordered all the parts. They should all arrive on Tuesday. I just used another website for the PSU that was out of stock here, everything else I got here at overclockers, though.

Thanks so much to everyone who helped out.
