Wanting a Surface Pro 2 - Am I nuts?

So I'm a recent convert to Windows 8.1. I actually love it! I think it makes a lot of sense.

I currently have an iPhone 4S, iPad 3 and a Macbook Air; but I'm thinking I could flog the Macbook Air, and iPad and replace it with the Surface Pro 2.

Would I be nuts in doing so? I really only use the iPad to keep myself occupied with things like Angry Birds and movies whilst on the go and the Air to do work whilst on the go.

I do like the cloud service that Apple provide, but thinking there's alternatives I could use to replace it - Dropbox, Evernote, Google's address book etc ...

What are your thoughts??

Nuts? God no!

I adore my Surface Pro, and would happily upgrade to a Pro 2 if I could justify it over my original.

I was a pretty heavy user of my iPad (3) until I bought my Surface, and since then I've not actually turned my iPad on (really should sell it).

Nothing you need to look for with regards to a replacement cloud service. Get your email hosted through outlook.com (either your own domain, an outlook.com address, or forward your existing service to it), and use Skydrive for your documents and photos.

Job done.

I am pretty excited about the Surface Pro 2. What about the app store? I've not really looked into more "mobile" apps in the windows app store. I think there are some iOS apps I would really like to keep using rather than store a PDF for something like, say the London Tube Map?

I've decided to get a Surface Pro 2. MB Air + iPad are going - but have decided to buy it in the country I'm going to work in as the 8GB RAM + 256 SSD is £200 cheaper there!

My sister has a surface Pro and me a Pro 2 I love it, fantastic hardware and my sister loves hers too

I have to admit - reading the reviews it's a bit of a weird thing. It's not quite big enough to be a laptop, but at the same time not quite a tablet. I've done the netbook thing and haven't had a laptop bigger than 12" in a long time now so should be an alright transition I think.

Just seems nuts though ... on a long flight, I could occupy myself with something like Civ 5 (on low) or who knows :D

Too heavy to realistically use as tablet....too ergonomically compromised to use as a laptop/keyboard device. Also too overpriced.

If you want a tab, get the Air. If you want Windows laptop, get an ultrabook.

If you want to compromise, get a Yoga 2 but Surface falls between too many stools IMO.

Are you joking? Unless you have the wrists of a 90 year old, the surface is nowhere near too heavy. I don't buy into the current generation of Apple iPad "lighter is better" mentality. In reality there is no reason to upgrade from an iPad 3/4 to an Air, and they are too compromised to be truly productive.

I have no problems using mine as a laptop replacement either, especially with type cover.

Plenty of apps on the woindows store. Its no upto 77,405 on the en-gb store.
Including london tube map.

Games are lacking though(still plenty on there though), but who cares when it will easily handle proper games at lower settings.

I have a Surface Pro 2. Not many games in the app store, but its full Windows 8.1 so you can play loads!

I find it is touching on the heavy side, but nothing to worry about.

Id replace my Dell Ultrabook with a Surface Pro 2 256gb SSD tomorrow if work would let me, one of the guys who is a massive Apple fan, Ipads, Macbook pro's, Air's etc.. went to the states, looked at a Surface Pro and was disappointed, his next visit to the US, he came back with a Surface Pro 2 256GB SSD with Keyboard and loves it

Good weight, very quick, USB 3 for extra storage
