I have a Sony FW21E, a netgear router DG834DG v5 router and a D-Link DNS323 NAS.

Sony --wifi--> ROUTER --cable--> NAS

When I transfer a 1gb file to my NAS it takes around 6mins a gb, this is on wireless. When I plug my laptop directly to my router it is of course faster taking only 1min 40seconds.

I know little about what WIFI tech is out there and am quite out of touch with it all. I know my current router is G which I'd assume is a bottle neck of sorts, but if I got a faster router would my laptop support it anyway?

What's fast for 1gb transfer these days over wifi? Can they get anywhere near cabled speeds? :confused:

Thanks in advance!

Yeah it does..

Networking Network adapter - Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11g, IEEE 802.11n (draft), Bluetooth 2.1 EDR

Any router suggestions? I've heard a few rave about the apple airports...But they might just be fan boys hehe. Seriously tho, ideas? Netgear/linksys/apple etc.?
