Hey all

I've reached a point where my old PC no longer functions particuarly well and can't run most modern games, cosequently a friend is helping me put together a pc i wont have to upgrade/replace for a good while.
We have a build in mind but i was hoping you folks could take a look and let us know if we've overlooked anything or are making any major mistakes, any feedback would be appreciated.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard [GA-X58A-UD7]

RAM: OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 2000MHz PC3-16000C10 Low-Voltage Triple Channel (OCZ3G2000LV6GK)

Graphics cards: Asus GeForce GTX 480 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card [90-C3CH90-W0UAY0KZ]

Case: Antec 1200 Twelve Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black [0761345-08120-7]

Hard Drives: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (WD1002FAEX)

Processor: Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66GHz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1366) - Retail [BX80601920]

Cooling: Thermalright TRUE Copper CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3)

Blu-ray drive: LG CH08LS10 8x Blu-Ray Reader/16x DVD±RW - Black (OEM) [CH08LS10.AUAU]

Power supply: Enermax Galaxy 1000W EGX1000EWL ATX2.2 Modular PSU [ega1000ewl]

I already realise that the GTX480 may not be the most cost efficient card but it looks to be the only way to have a 3d capable machine that can also do DX11.
I'm intending to overclock the processor to 3.5ghz and run the hard drives in Raid 0.

This is going to take a pretty big chunk out of my savings so i want to get it right so again any feedback or thoughts would be appreciated.

Hey guys,

Thanks for pointing out the possible CPU Cooling Issue, I will now be going for:

"Titan TTC-NK85TZ Fenrir CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/LGA775/LGA1366) [TTC-NK85TZ]"

Is SSD really going to be that much better than 2 Sata III drives (6gb/s) in Raid 0 setup?

I prefer the space more than I di not having to hear the clicking :P
