Hey guys, looking for case advice more than anything really. I'd like to build a pc with moderate gaming capabilities that i can take around to LANs with me and such. My current i7 rig is quite a beast to transport around. I'm going to upgrade the graphics in my i7 rig, and put one of the 4870's currently in that into my new portable mATX build.

I've been looking at both i3 and am3 tri-core options, think i'm going to settle for the x3 450 with a cheap mATX mobo as i don't really plan to overclock. This along with 4gb of corsair xms ddr3 ram and a 500gb samsung spinpoint clocks in at about £170. I have a few spare optical drives lying around.

My real problem is choosing a low cost case that will support a 4870, aswell as the 500w antec psu from my last build i have lying around. It needs to be as small/portable as possible, preferably <£40 whilst housing all these components.

On top of this should i be looking at third party cooling options aswell? If i do decide to overclock the processor, how easy will this be on a cheap mATX asus motherboard, and what Heatsink would be recommended?

Cheers

I know its £15 over your idea on the price you want to spend on a case but I would go for this...

Its a Micro ATX case, although it looks quite big in the picture is actually quite small, compared to most cases you will find. Its been designed very well...

Can handle any standard PSU you throw at it and is also designed to handle most graphics, it states you can easily fit a 5970 in there so a 4870 will fit fine.

Its a gamers case and has been designed with that in mind, can take a large intake fan through its side mesh panel, an exhaust fan out the back and can even fit two fans in the top to take out more air, so you wouldn't have problems with heat or cooling.

Its also got a nice carry handle on the top... seems just like what your looking for!

Might be a bit late for you, but why don't you look at moving your i7 rig into something a little smaller - PC-A05NB perhaps? It'll take the full ATX board, be smaller than the one suggested above and look a lot better while saving you the cost of having 2 PCs :D
