Hey Guys,

Not been on the forums for a long time, but i'm wanting to start folding when im not using my computer will only be used from 7pm to 12am and then will just be left on so need to do something useful with it.

Bits i've just ordered and will be here in the week are:

Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor
Asus P8P67 Pro Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge)
OCZ Vertex 2E Bigfoot 120GB 3.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive
NZXT Phantom Enthusiast Full Tower Case - Black
G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Coolermaster Silent Pro Modular 600W Power Supply
Akasa AK-CCX-4002HP Venom CPU Cooler

Whilst i've run folding before, (without a team etc) i've only been returning about 1200PPD.

The thing thats getting me is the -smp and the -advmethods/-bigadv.

having a read through the guides as we speak but im a little lost - some help wouldnt go amiss.

Cheers

Raz

Ok so there are a few variables to take into account.

To get maximum points you would need to:

a) overclock that to around 4.4-4.6Ghz
b) run -smp -bigadv

At that speed it will take around 1d 18h to finish for around 45-50K PPD in a vmware session.

Deadline for bigadv is around 4d so you should be ok to finish in time with a decent bonus.

Under windows only you are looking at maybe 40-42K

This is for the better returning bigadv WU's if you get a 2684 you might not make the deadline, you should be ok tho :)

For me I'd go -smp -bigadv -verbosity 9

Hi RazzleDazzle,

To answer your question yes.

To fold the bigadv units you always used to have to have a passkey, I'm not sure if that is required or not - I'm sure some one will post to let you know if this is required any more.

The simplest way to crunch is to use FAH GPU Tracker V2 as posted by BIffa here

Yes, passkey is required for bigadv to get the additional bonus multiplier - which bumps the ppd from 9000 (ish) to +42k for a 2600k @ 4.4/4.6ghz
