Okay so soon I'll be starting uni and want to upgrade my pc so it can play games better but try not to go over the top. At the moment I have:

Windows 8 pro 64 bit
S3810 motherboard
i3 550 @3.20GHz
3GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 6670 2GB
ACE 750W BR PSU (Heard this is awful and have been recommended to get a more reliable brand)

Games I intend to play atm I have borderland 1 GOTY and bioshock and gta 4, will be hoping to be able to play gta 5 well when that comes out also.

For budget really a £100-£150 graphics card would be nice, I wouldn't want to go any higher than £175 as for motherboard/processor/ram I'm unsure whether to upgrade or not yet as an i3 is pretty good, I know 4GB RAM would probably be much more useful though.

If you sell off your ram, 6670 and Psu, you can recoup some money. But I think this would be a good upgrade if you could stretch your budget. If not, then the Gpu with either the ram or Psu.

I do plan to stretch it but it will depend of my finances in coming months will uni and work as I also have car insurance to pay for first which is high atm (first year driving)

How good is the 7850 like could I play borderlands on high and get 45+ FPS?

Sorry for slow replies emails didn't notify me of a reply.

I use a 22" LG LED IPS monitor. I stated windows 8 pro 64 bit as my OS in my OP. I have a few looks at the graphics card and it seems decent enough for playing the average games. With uni I won't have time to play everything and will only be playing casually.

What OS are you using? Please don`t say Vista 32bit.

What a horrific thought!!

Yes, but those OCZ's are not great. Would go for the Corsair or a Thermaltake over that. Antec units are Seasonic internals, so that's a consideration too!
