any help is appreciated cheers

Most clan websites use a CMS. Joomla/Wordpress/Mambo etc... follow suit if you want something fast.

agree - CMS is the way forward. There are some really good deals for shared hosting these days.

Always buy the domain name yourself, that way you won't get rolled over if you ever come to move the site. Try 123-reg if its a .co.uk domain, they also offer nice deals on hosting too.

neither make a difference for what you want as they're just a name. hosting in uk (or local to you as possible e.g. usa if your visitors are based in usa) will give slightly better speeds but again for just a clan website then not worth worrying about imo as long as you don't go dead cheap you should be ok. vidahost basic package is cheap enough at £17 per year for hosting and gives 2 years free domain name registration if you go with .co.uk. they're also a very good company which gets a lot of recommendations from people on here, and they can be trusted to give you a great deal, e.g. no hidden fees, hidden terms etc as being described in other posts

just make sure you are the "named registrant" if you go for a deal that includes the domain, in some cases the company either refuse to release it or charge the earth to move it on.

Also, if its CMS you are looking for, make sure your hosting supports at least 1 MySQL database and PHP. Its pretty standard stuff but some hosting companies are clever at offering a cheap base package that ends up expensive with all the add-ons
