WAR Beta Codes & CE Question

Hey there

Basically, I have pre-ordered the Collector's Edition from the dog and grammar phone shop, and I have bought the pre-order box with my 3 codes (open beta, early access and exclusive in-game items). But what I want to know is, if I buy a standard edition (just the discs, no art book etc etc) of WAR, will I still be able to use my 3 codes and get into the open beta, early access and in-game items?

Thanks.

Funnily enough someone asked this question on the beta forums, Requiel responded that the codes would only work on a CE account. So doesnt look like you can use a standard one and use the keys (except presumably the open beta key which of course doesnt have an account)

One mo... I will see if I can find his post

EDIT : here we go "It will only accept a CE licence key. You would be able to play the headstart but if you wanted to keep on playing that account after live launch, you'd need to put your CE licence key in."

Ah right, but don't we only get our actual CE boxes on the release day, so how are we supposed to put out CE key in if we don't have the box for the early access?

Edit: Just read the quote and realised that I can play the headstart etc. Looks like I'll be saving up for the CE then. Btw in the dog and grammar phone place, do we get what we paid for the pre-order box deducted from the CE price? Because the guy said I will still have to pay full price when I bought the pre-order box. =\

Thanks for letting me know.

You dont..you put your CE licence key in when the headstart runs out. So effectively when your headstart runs out, its day one of normal retail, and if you want to keep the characters you have from your headstart you then have to put in your CE licence key.

Early access = headstart.

Not sure on the pricing, I got mine from that jersey place in the end, and didnt pay anything for the preorder box...so I am inclined to think that the money paid for the preorder from dog and gramaphone should be deducted from the total price.

I'm hoping so. The reason I was thinking of going with the standard edition is because I've got fallout 3 collector's edition on pre-order aswell for the 360 which costs £49.99. So I'm gonna need to start saving for them both as I think they are both being released in October?

Also, do you have any idea when you think the open beta will start?

Guild beta is starting very very soon now (probably next week), open beta is the next phase after that, so possibly sometime in August. My money is on release being very late August/early September or (more likely) mid September.

This game better be amazing.

I wouldnt say it is "amazing", but then again I havent played an amazing MMO since the early days of UO. Its a good MMO, but dont get your hopes up that its the next coming or something.

Certainly I enjoy the WAR beta more than I did the AoC beta (only using those as examples because those are the 2 most recent betas I have been in), which ironically I predicted on many forums , including this one I think, would sell really well at first and then subscriptions would plummet. Looks like I was right on that one.

If you liked Daoc then you will most likely like WAR too. Its a decent enough MMO and I am having a lot of fun with it, but its no UO. Its not the greatest MMO ever, and shouldnt be hyped as such. It should however be hyped as a good fun MMO if you liked Daoc etc.

As with all games though, its largely a matter of personal tastes. Currently I would rather play the WAR beta than any other MMO thats already out. Which says a lot about WAR....or a lot about me...take your pick :D
