Warcraft account hacked... worried about keylogger.

The android authenticator is an official Blizzard app as far as I know and will be fine. Just make sure to note down the serial number in case you need to remove it at any point due to a phone software update, or if your phone is lost/stolen/broken.

That authenticator is a god send, well it was when i played. Have hung up my wow shoes for good now, but i got one as soon as they were released. Actually still sits under my monitor as a reminder of good times on the game

cool will get it installed

i was just like wtf where is it was it deleted?

when i went in to the pc gaming section to look for this thread

hmm this is weird, when i got hacked the hacker put an authenticator on my account. blizz removed this authenticator when i phoned up.

Battle.net just came back up and i reset my password. Before i log back into wow i want to first have an authenticator bought my me placed on the account. However when i try to buy one from the blizzard store i get the error message "There has been an error processing your request." Even tho all the payment information is correct. Is the system still thinking that i have already had an authenticator linked to my account, hence it wont let me buy another one?

edit: i guess i will just ring billing support tomorrow.

Its just so amazing to what lengths these people will go to get into your account, its really quite sickening to be honest.

My account was hacked from china, even my email account a couple of days ago. An authenticator was added to my account. Ive been using the internet for well over 10 years and this is my first case. It feels horrible :( But google did log the ips

China (125.211.121.31)
China (113.9.112.128)

I havent played wow for a year now but having this happen was really frustrating. Ive never used a virus scanner as im usually really careful.
I think with the fact that the internet is becoming more popular and popular websites are now having code injected into them it may now be mandatory. Sigh.

I contacted blizzard through their support form with a pic of my drivers license and they have reset my acc password and removed the authenticator from my battlenet account. Im going to add my own authenticator, even though its such a hassle.
Im also looking for something to scan my pc before I do any of that.

Don't know why Blizzard don't bundle an authenticator with boxed versions of the game, or a code to claim a digital version for a mobile phone. As they make enough money from the subscriptions.

Apologies if this has been mentioned and I have missed it my scan of the thread....do the keyloggers focus solely on wow? It was mentioned to run a scan with warcraft open, does this mean that providing you use a different password for other things i.e. Amazon, online banking etc that it is unlikely to see your other accounts being compromised?

You cannot assume a keylogger will focus solely on WoW, it is fully plausible that it could obtain all your passwords.

You should always stick to unsing one-password-per-service as it will certainly help mitigate damage if just one password is obtained, but if you have had a keylogger you will need to change each of the passwords. Unless you have fully identified the keylogger in question and know exactly what it does record.

most keyloggers will steal cdkeys from your registry aswell for multiplayer games which probably get resold at those cheap online stores

I got 'hacked' aswell about 2 weeks ago. blizz banned the account for 3 hours and changed the password so i could reset it. it seems that the person who hacked it used it for gold spamming. what's wierd is that i hadnt logged into wow for at leaqst a month before it was 'hacked'
