sorry for the wall of text. If a mod thinks this would do better in the other thread please merge.

I think it makes a certain level of sense to have one thread for painting, and another for army lists :)

I haven't actually played any W40K for about 6 month
I tend to play it only a couple of weekends a year.

Perhaps another subforum under Games named Wargames or Boardgames?

I used to have about 4k points of Chaos Space Marines old rules so I think second or third edition of their codex :p It was great 46 models totalling 4k points. The terminators were weighing in at 150points a pop.

Just got back from warhammer world yesterday :D

I play orks personally and find power klaws very useful against IG tanks, especially since orks BS is so terrible. So power weapons might be a good idea, especially on fast moving units like assault marines.

One of the things to remember with imp guard (and to a lesser extent marine) armour is that it's almost all got AR10 or less at the rear.

If you've got cheap mobile units with STR5+ weapons they can prove an annoyance and harass expensive armoured units;) (Gun drones for tau don't look like much of a threat compared to the fusion Piranha they dropped from a turn before, but if you forget their guns are STR5 they can give a nasty surprise).

That in addition to Krak and Lascannon :)

With Daemons, I found that Flamers (template, auto hit, str 5) are quite handy against imp guard mechanised battalions, especially if they've bunched up (multiple auto hits across multiple targets tends to mean something is going to go boom), they're also quite handy against bunkers.

Very good advice. Also remember that if the vehicle didn't move that turn, all melee attacks automatically hit on the rear armour. It's sweet charging a nob with PK into a vehicle, 4 str9 hits on armour 10 :p

Also can someone clarify this for me, is the rending special rule that if you role a 6 to wound, it ignores armour saves? I havn't got a rulebook to hand atm, just wanted to check if I was correct.

Need to get my Tau army finished and start playing again, not had much chance since moving house. Also give new Codex!

just a observation, don't GW get peeved about posting stats and point values?

Seems so, just Googled to find the answer to the question above regarding rending and the site simply said "The answer is in the rulebook but we can't publish it here due to copyright" :(

Yeah i got that result too.

Shame for them that it's easy to get hold of a PDF version of most codexes if you know where to look :p probably the same for the rulebook too.

I thought exactly the same. Infact I might have to aquire a PDF version and stick it on the tablet for times like these, saves hogging the book around :D

I played in a 6000 point ish game on sunday, i was with eldar and tau against grey knights and vnailla marines, here is my necron list.

HQ
Deceiver

Troops
50 warriors, 2x20, 1 x10

Fast attack
Scarabs x 13 1x7 1x6
Destroyers x 5

Heavy support
Monolith x 2

List worked extremely well, 50 warriors advanced up the middle with the deceiver hiding half behind a monolith. I was hit by 3 of those ordanance s10ap1 templates, about 75% of the downed warriors got back up, then proceeded to virtually wipe out the three tanks (vanquishers?). It is incredibly hard to kill 50 warriors in one round, and even if you kill 49, they can all still get a wwbb roll as they will be in 6" of each other and a res orb, thats 50% back up, then portal both sqauds of 20 through a monolith, meaning 75% will get back up.
We won the game eventually but i urge anyone who plays necrons to try the list out its great fu

I was thinking the exact same thing :p
Be awesome to put some army lists on my tablet too, saves having scraggly paper around.

Check out Battlescribe Mobile if you have an Android tablet, seems to be a well rated app to compile army lists on the go. Could be worth a pop.
