Am I being stupid, or is there no way to swap items between heroes? I can buy and sell items, move them to the bags etc, but my commander's picked up a magey item and I can't seem to give it to my mage...

Hmm, says there's no updates for my version.

Ah. Spot of more informed searching reveals that the game's so buggy that even the patch downloader doesn't work. I'm impressed. :D Thanks for the assist, you poked me in just the right direction.

edit- Dear lord, that's a big patch... I think it's bigger than the entire of Dark Omen, and the game doesn't seem to be any better :D

Speaking of Dark Omen, anyone know of a way to get it to run on XP?
I spent nearly a year completing Shadow of the Horned Rat, always got stuck on dark omen though, looked around and there are a few things to get it working, taking mouse pointer off etc, never worked though.

and yeah i forgot to add that you cant manually download, im annoyed that this game has been released in honesty, its short and narrow as well..

Iirc you can swap items over between heroes on the screen in towns where you can sell items. Just drag them out of the pack of the selected hero & drop it onto the portrait of the hero you want to give it to.

Well, it's definitely one of the 4 town options where you can do it - if you're still stuck when I check back in I'll go into the game & have a look-see. Not at home at the mo I'm afraid!

Yup, all patched up now and it works. Still can't give the banners my heroes have picked up to a unit, though  288mb of patch has done it's, eh, one job it seems.

Still, for such a blatantly unfinished game it's been stable and pretty unbuggy- just missing things. Makes a nice change to having all the features present, but only working 9/10 of the time.

Despite my slagging, I'm really enjoying it. It's exactly like playing tabletop warhammer without the fat kid. And a lot like Dark Omen in a lot of ways, including an irritating "Escort the dwarves" mission where the dwarves will roll their defenceless wagons happily into ambushes rather than wait 30 seconds till the 50 knights turn up
