Finally getting 8x401 + to work on my E6600 ... but

even though Orthos stable 2 hours + ...

if you restart windows or press reset, or even power on pc - it will not post - just hangs there ...

but if you turn off power and back on again at the back, then turn on pc - boots prefectly .. and Orthos stable.

any ideas please ?

thanks, Mark.

Put it to 400FSB.

Then use clockgen using CY25591 or around there to clock higher.

Gives you the lower quicker strap and still allows you to hit >430FSB :)

CR.

that sounds a bit complicated for me to be honest. but thanks for the suggestion.

Bizarely - I found out that if I did a "reset" from windows (ie using the windows reset function) - pc booted fine ...

but if I pressed reset - or turned the pc off - and turned it on "softly" - from the front of the case - it would not boot :(

in fact it was so bad the last time - that it took about 9 power cycles just to get back into the bios ! Too close a call for me ...

interestingly though ...

my Vanderpool option in "CPU options" has always been greyed out - now I can select it enabled or disabled - bizarre !
