So I've just installed my new wolfdale chip, maximus formula motherboard and Seagate barracuda hdd in my Antec 900 case, in the bios the NB and SB temps are about 26 degrees but my cpu is at 62 degrees! whats going on here? the cooler was pretty difficult to attach but i reckon it on properly, coretemp reads 52 for one core and 56 for the other, i was under the impression that the new 45nm chips were cooler. any thoughts?

i just played counter strike for half an hour and when i finished core temp read 80 degrees and AI suite read 67 degrees. could i have possibly mounted the cooler wrong or put on too much thermal paste? i removed the stock stuff and put a tiny bit on, smaller than a grain of rice and spread it evenly over the whole contact area. The rest of my system reads 25 degrees so it seems strange that the cpu is 35 degrees hotter and its only about and inch from the 25 degree north bridge which only has passive cooling.

cool, well i get many different readings, idle i get 62 in bios, 58 in coretemp and 38 in AI suite and, load bios is 90 degrees, coretemp is 82 and AI suite says 67 degrees.

well i ordered an arctic freezer 7, but after removing stock cooler, reapplying the paste and reseating the cooler i now get idle temps of 37 degrees and that goes up to about 55 load, so when my new cooler comes i think it will be a lot better.
