So warm weather is here at last so how are reference 290/290x coping, are they holding off or melting like all the doom and gloom merchants predicted

I've got two in CF in Texas and after playing Hawken and Payday 2 last night for a couple hours the top card was at 75c and the bottom was at 73c. They are Sapphire Tri-x cooled though.

My temps are still the same at stock speed, (64c). But if i oc the card they have hit the throttle limit of 70c a few times.

Mine has been fine, I think people over think ambient temps as with the reference cards they are blowers so they expel it out of the case so it doesn't suck in that much hot air.

I just slapped a block on my 290 today, had it on my bench the last few days and was idling around 85c last night lol. Hooked it up to a little 240rad out of laziness (cba to drain cpu loop) and it's now idling at 33c and gaming at 51c :)

Idling at 45-50C on both cards. Load 80-88C depending on what game im playing. Max fan speed 58% so far. Most importantly, reference cards.

They'll do alright, it's not like it's baking out yet anyway. :). Might post a "red plasticy residue forming on bottom of case?" thread though just for a giggle :D

Joe Cool sizing up to the little red pimply lad on the beach :D

I've hit 88C today on my reference 290's at 58% fan speed. Been sweltering today in the room. Will go up a bit more soon i reckon. :D

My cpu gets near 80c in games, no such problems with the gpu thankfully.

Cpu peaked at 66C today. I recovered a few C by turning my top rear 120MM Gentle Typhoon to exhaust. Previously it was intake to try and provide positive pressure. It made little sense though as it was intaking some of the hot air exhausted by me 290's. Knocked 2-3c off the cpu temps.

Mine will probably get a bit higher once it warms up a bit, only 20c in my pc room at the mo. 11c outside.
