Been a few posts about dells warranty and i checked with dell when buying my 2405 what warranty would be. They said brand new replacement for anything on next day courier who will pick up old monitor at same time. Now 5 months later im having problems with my 2405 so rang dell who confirmed that it was faulty but that it would be replaced with a reconditioned unit and not a brand new one. I complained after being lied to when purchasing and the guy asked me to send him the email confiriming that was what i was told - how am i suppose to get the saved email of my computer while i have a dead monitor?

Reconditioned units are probably fine but be careful as dell lied to me when making the sale

they did the same with me, but I reported the fault within the 30 days, I just never rang back with my serial number till about 3 months later, but they said as I had reported it initially within the 30days then they would send me a brand new one... Had to wait 7-10 days for it. Its next day delivery only for refurb.

Its an absolute joke when they tell you its brand new when you are buying it. Anyone had any probs with a reconditioned unit?

I'd presume its good as new...dont worry really, however if they said you'd get brand new, you haggle at them, thats awful customer service...

err.. can they actually get away with this? You paid for a brand new monitor so that's what you should get!

damn straight!

i would be quoting consumer legislation at them! the warrenty covers you for 3 years on site replacement within 1 working day with a brand new unit of equal or better quality. at least thats what i got with my 1905 2 years ago. so technically they should be supplying you with a 2407 seeing as the 2405 is not longer manufactured.

throw that at them and see what happens :D
good luck

I have looked at the invoice now and if you read the terms and conditions it says reconditioned or new but obviously you dont get the invoice until the monitor arrives. Am going to keep haggling them for a new one and take it further but unless i have written confirmation that i will get a new monitor then i dont think i have a leg to stand on. Also i was under the impression that i had 3yr on site warranty as standard but invoice says only 1yr.
