Warning light on my car...

I've got a little warning light in my MKIII Golf.

It's the farthest left light and it looks like a little thermometer in some liquid. It's red and flashes.

It's strange cause if I turn the engine off and on again it will go away.

Some mornings it's there and some mornings it isn't

The temperature gauge on the car seems normal so I'm a little confused as to what this light means. The car seems fine apart from this light.

Any one know?

ok...I am a complete car noob... I can drive one very well and can re-fuel and add some oil, screen wash and air in the tyres but other than that I'm pooh.

Is it just a case of putting some water in somewhere? Or is the cooler some other kind of liquid?

Sorry for the stupid questions..

Go get a Haynes from Halfords or somewhere - I'm pretty sure they cover warning lights.

I've had a look but can't find anything at the moment, if anyone finds one please can you post a link :)

Cheers,

Sounds like the low brake fluid warning light to me.
Take a pic of it & post it.

If its flashing and the temp guage is normal then its coolant level.

Check the coolant and top up if its low.

If on the other hand if the coolant level is fine and its having a bit of a paddy (as my Octavia did a couple of weeks ago) post back as there is a little trick to sort this out :)
