Hi

I've recently picked up GT Legends as it's a classic game and now I've got a gamepad I can enjoy it far more than with a keyboard

It was released back in 2005 however and it uses StarForce copy protection

When you try to install the game it tries to install StarForce - which fails - then asks you to reboot. On rebooting you'll discover, as I have, that it corrupts a critical system file and Windows now fails to boot.

Thankfully I had the Vista DVD to hand and the Windows repair worked a treat so I could get back into Windows

What you need to do (as I found out after a spot of hunting), is run the game exe (there isn't an icon at this point) but say "No" when prompted to restart (this is important). Download the StarForce updater from their website here and run it - with a spot of luck this will install sucessfully and ask you to reboot. At this point, you can reboot and continue to configure the game as normal

Just a post incase anyone has the same problem as me!

Dosnt the pirate comunity have somthing to get around star force?

*not condoning piracy just a way to make sure your legitimate game dosnt kill your legitimate pc :)

*sorry for spelling on ie so no spell check like normal :(

uff had something similar happen to me today as well! Back and running now though!
(couldn't repair or anything)

*Makes an os image*

yep same here, pc was unbootable after installing it.

however if you hit f8 or f12, cant remember which to bring up the vista boot menu all is fine if you choose the "last known good config"

unfortuneately after buying the game ive had to resort to torrents to get it actually working........

I hate piracy, especially of videogames...

but you have a moral obligation to use the crack for any game that uses starfarce...

Had that before !!

Used '' use last known working system configuration'' to boot my pc and after that vista worked again.
I hate company's who use starforce as DRM.
