I've just been looking over on the Folding Forums and noticed that the Windows SMP Beta Client expires tomorrow. They haven't released an update yet but will be doing so shortly. Just thought I would give you guys a heads-up.

The client only checks for the expiry on startup, so you all-night folders don't have anything to worry about :) I'm not sure if this affects the Linux SMP client, but there is an update out for that apparently

This is the thread I was looking at: http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=726

Edit: This does affect the Linux clients as well, a new release is already up (beta 2): http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=996

Thanks for the heads up :)

Shame it'll probably only be a date extension rather than an update but it's all good. Really wish I hadn't gone to check out the thread though - new forum, same attitude from the mods, I hope it doesn't go all Borkley over there

Aye, I haven't bothered re-registering in the new forum as I'm not really sure what's up with people over there (don't worry - I've pulled all my clients off non-public beta work).

good spot - will have mine hopefully crunching throught the night and day tommorrow so will keep an eye on the update coming later tommorrow or so

Mine shall not be a-slacking. I reboot systems fairly regularly though so will have to patch all the clients in short order.

Hope there's a new Mac version too as that's got the same problem.

Glad it's not just me - we have a great knowledge base here anyway and as long as any major issues are raised by someone over there then no harm done :)

I've barely even looked at the new forum tbh. Besides a few of the Pande group scientists expressing thanks there seemed to be very little incentive to keep reporting beta issues. In fact, I didn't even notice the old forum was down for a month.

sods law - had to shutdown my system due to weird high pitched noise coming from pc so i guess i'm stuck till update arrives - had a quick look this morning and nothing up yet.

Do keep up. :p :D

Installed and running. Will do the Linux stuff tomorrow as they're generally safer from unexpected reboots.

Anyone had any problems with this new client seeming to act like a single core client? Ive just downloaded it and its gotten a unit called p2453_Fragment-Receptor HDU which is worth 243 credits and only runs one instance of the core

No. Are you sure you haven't downloaded the standard console client by mistake? Have a look in the log file for the version number in the first few lines when F@H starts up.
