This has driven me absolutely nuts over the past few days as my Steam Link has been absolutely useless on 5GHz WiFi.

Hope this helps someone else:

I was getting intermittent latency spikes that made my Steam Link unusable and after a lot of pain and exhaustive testing, I found that the issue was one of my Canon printer utilities.

Uninstalled:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Canon\IJ Network Scanner Selector EX (this is for my wireless Canon printer)

And now I don't get a single ping to the DGW >1ms in an hour whereas before there were spates of >100ms for 4-5 seconds every 30s or so.

I uninstalled the utility and peace is restored on Earth in time for Christmas ;)

What makes this even more weird is that it's only just started happening. (Windows 10).

I think he's been here long enough to understand that and wrote it in a moment of frustration..

On topic though I was thinking of getting a steam link, think there are other things that could cause general interferences?

Cordless phones, neighbours' wireless kit... it's pot luck really. Go wired if possible.

Yes I was extremely frustrated figuring this out. Silly software doing some sort of wireless discovery poll every so often. Not sure why it was causing this problem. :(

EDIT: Spoke too soon - getting tonnes of interference again with a different pattern. Time to run some cable outside the house between the rooms then. :(
