Hi i have a ryzen 5 3600 with rx 5700 xt.
When i try play 1080p the gpu is running around 70% while cpu is under 50%.

If i try run 1440p which i would like to run at it maxes out the cpu.

I am thinking going for rx 6800 xt. But could stretch to 6950 xt.

Would this be worth it, as my cpu usage is currently running only at under 50% in game

Kind regards Andrew

It sounds to me like you are already a little CPU limited based on what you have written. A faster GPU is not really going to help.

At 1440P, do you mean that it maxes out the GPU rather than the CPU? CPU usage would be higher at lower resolution not the other way around.

At 1440P a GPU upgrade makes more sense than at 1080P. Why are you running 1080P if your monitor supports 1440P?

Looks more like a CPU issue.

I currently have a 5900x and 5700xt and my frames in Warzone at 1440p are near enough 120fps

Warzone is a CPU limited game for the most part. Check out frame chasers on YouTube he did a deep dive on it about 11 months ago.

I am not very tech guy but if my cpu is only at 50% usage why is that limited it?

Yes sorry i meant GPU. I would like to run the game at 1440p but when i try run it at 1440p it maxes out the GPU

I want to get more FPS as its only around 100 fps.
Okay. You could buy a faster GPU, that would get you extra FPS. However, you could also consider dropping a few settings and that would give you a FPS bump.

Another option, the game supports FSR, you could enable FSR Ultra Quality mode and that would probably give you another 50FPS or so for a slight hit to image quality.

So all settings are at the lowest. But i am unsure what GPU is best to go for as i could get a rx 6950 but not sure if that is overkill against my CPU

The 6950 XT would give you extra frames, but to be honest as you already have a 6800 XT, it's not a significant upgrade. Not enough to be worthwhile, in my honest opinion. If you had a 6700 XT, 100% worth it. Maybe even a 600 at a push.

I would optimise settings and try my advice above, you'll get those extra 20-40 FPS you are looking for.

Your CPU is not the fastest anymore, so a faster GPU might not bring the sort of gains you'd expect, particularly in Warzone.

Oof, I'm sorry had a blonde moment. Little un had my up since 1:30am. :D

Well, a 6800 XT/6900 XT/6950 XT would be a nice upgrade. A 6800 XT would be a decent match for your CPU at 1440P if you can find one at a decent price.
