Was I caught speeding?

I know I know, this thread has been done to hell, but this is a bit of a different one!

Today I was dropping a friend in town after work, on the way back I was going about 38-40 in a 30 zone, forgetting I was going past the local police station, no speed cameras etc.. there, but not the smartest thing, I know, but all was fine, clear roads ahead and behind, nothing around, but about 30 secs later I look in the rear view mirror and see 2 police cars right up my rear end, I'm talking BMW close, which seemed a tad wierd, kept checking the mirror, no lights, sirens or driver signalling for me to push over, so I carried on, and took a turn into a housing estate, figured if they're gonna stop me, they'll do it here, and I didn't want to go directly home and have a chat with them outside the house! Anyways, the just ignored my turn and carried on going, considering there were no lights, sirens, or anything to indicate a rush, its strange how they went from invisible to up my ass in sub 40 seconds, I'm gussing a front mounted camera/speed camera COULD have picked me up, but surely then they would have stopped me in this case?

Hoping I'm ok in this situation, but just thought I'd get a rundown on the odds! lol

they've seen you speeding, sped up to get a read of your numberplate through ANPR (they do have to go quite close so it picks up) its come up clean so they've left you alone knowing that "he looked a bit fast me'lud" will never get you convicted

So definately not been caught.

Just as an FYI, only way you can get a ticket through the post is with a mobile or fixed speed camera. If a copper catches you he will pull you over to issue the ticket

No pull always = no ticket, as long as its a police car we're talking about, and not one of the vans with the camera inside them parked up at the roadside

If you where speeding, "in their eyes" they would have stopped you. So I would say your safe.

Off topic but a rant I feel is worthy of one. They have recently installed a 20 zone at a scondary school near me. However it is totally stupid as it no where near any path where the kids can cross, as opposite this 20 zone is a ditch. The point that kids can cross goes upto a 30. It seems yet another ridiculous council ploy to earn money, as they park a speed van up their every other day. They have recenty installed 2 zebra crossings on this road in the 30 mph section which defeats the object of dropping it to a 20 in the first place. Im all for protecting kids but this seems tad daft to me.
