My car is being serviced tomorrow. I decided to buy some of the bits for the service myself - oil, oil filter and air filter.

I paid for the bits on eBay last Sunday, all ordered through seperate sellers, and I received the oil and oil filters within a couple of days (as I've become used to with car parts - they usually arrive within a couple of days unless the seller explicitly states so, and in which case, I buy from elsewhere).

It got to Thursday and the air filter had not arrived, nor had I received a despatch confirmation, so I queried the seller as to the whereabouts of the filter, and whether they could confirm they'd sent it or not. I had an estimated delivery date of the 13th. The seller didn't bother replying to my message, so I sent another one today after finding out that I won't be receiving the filter by tomorrow.

Here's the message I sent them this time:

Thanks for the reply to my first question regarding the
whereabouts of my filter.

Usually car parts arrive a couple of days after purchase, as
the oil filters and oil I purchased from 2 other sellers did.

My car is being serviced tomorrow, and I needed the filter
before then to hand to my mechanic. As it now won't arrive
on time, I have had to ask him to order one for me at the last
minute. So really, I may as well not have bothered ordering
one from yourselves and just waited for one to drop out of
the sky, or appear in some other miraculous manner.

Good show.

Looking at their feedback, they've let at least one other person down recently. Maybe I'm being unreasonable, but I don't think so myself. I could've waited until tomorrow, hoping that the postman would come earlier than usual, thus saving ~£30 on a filter. But if it didn't arrive tomorrow, I'd be without a filter, and possibly missing a stamp from my service book.

Just file an "item did not arrive" dispute with ebay/paypal, and get your money back, that's about the only good thing about Ebay.. Other then that, it's very hit and miss..

But wouldn't a local motor factors be able to get you reasonable priced consumables for the car? £30 for a filter? what on earth is it?

Very un-profesisonal and doing yourself no favours.

It did not arrive on time, it happens. There might not be a genuine reason, there may well be. Either way if you are not happy with the delivery service as described (was it a guranteed service?) feel free to explain that and request a refund as a result of your circumstances but it seems like you ordered too late anyway.

My oil got delayed 1 day when I ordered it from Opie Oils and I pushed my service date back without hassle.

Other sellers stuff getting to you in 2 days is not a binding for any other seller to match the lead time.

If I was the seller I would be doing you no favours after receiving that message.

In future, use this guy for Honda parts..

http://simautoparts.co.uk/

He's registered on itr-dc2 (maybe other forums too)

If you give him a part number, he'll give you a price on it. Some things are cheaper from Honda, so order them from lings.

Get the part numbers from here http://www.hondaoriginalparts.com/ or just email him saying what your car is and what you are after.

He posts from Ireland, but postage is cheap or free if you order a fair amount of items.

Send him an email and he'll sort you out

You went about this the wrong way. I had an identical issue with a Mercedes Benz crank sensor, i thought i would cheap out and order it on ebay, it didnt come in time for the specialist to fit it.

I just messaged him to say that i wont be needing it, and he needs to forward his returns policy to me. Returned it, it was fine.

Yeah, with hindsight I did go about it the wrong way. I was annoyed that I'd had no reply, no despatch confirmation or other correspondence from the seller, and coupled with the fact that I am NOT a morning person I was probably in the wrong frame of mind to be messaging someone I needed a reasonable/any response from.

Live/learn etc. If it shows up, I'll keep it for next time and order any other bits a month before to be on the safe side.

Cheers for the heads up on simautoparts bledd. Hopefully I can remember them for next time.

tbh, an airfilter, just tell the mechanic not to bother with that element of it and chuck it in yourself when it arrives...

I know how much a pain these sort of things can be,

It also annoys me as well when you query about the progress of the delivery and you never get a reply. Before I drop them an email I always look to see if their is a phone number to the shop and I will call them directly. I had a simular issue a while ago with a car part where it got delayed by 3 days and no one their end ever answered the phones, but they did respond to the email I sent to them but only them saying "It did get dispatched on XXX day, their are delays with RM at the moment". On the day I received it that is when I actually found out that the item had it fact did not get dispatched until the previous day so it was likely that they had forgot to dispatch it themselves.

Did you use "buy it now" and is he a business seller? If so, distance selling act applies... ask him for your money back and leave him negative feedback.

I'M LEAVING YOU YOU COW!

Is it worth doing that though, because he's then pretty likely to receive bad feedback himself?
