I was at my mates engagement party and basically i saw a girl get punched in the face like twice and she ran off shouting help outside this pub, and the guy chased her so i said to my mate "**** i aint cool on that" so rung the cops, anyway they never turned up and they rung me back saying they couldnt find them?! i said that someone who was related to the women who got hit told me that it was nothing to worry about n shouldnt have rung the cops (she actually did tell me this) so i told them to cancel the call and apologised for wasting their time, anyway the cops on the phone said i did the right thing etc but cant help thinking i was in the wrong and sholdnt have done it, like i over reacted a bit?

im still wasted atm so sorry if this doesnt really make sense

I think you did the right thing. The woman who says you shouldn't have rang them is probably in on it.

EDIT: Even though she's related, but yeah.

sorry i messed up a bit, i meant that the guy (who was punching) was related to the girl that said to me it was nothing to worry about and it was normal for this to happen, and she's actually good mates with me :/ that why i thought "crap i shouldnt have done that"

i would have punched the guy in the face repeatedly and told him if i ever heard of him hitting a woman again i would smash his hands with a sledge hammer so he cant do it again.

but i grew up in a deprived area seems most of the people on here were brought up on nice posh estates

tbh i did want to intervene but he was much bigger than me and tbh i aint much of a fighter and he probably woulda killed me lol

so based on that information then what your really asking is should you of taken this persons advice and chosen to not let the police follow it up ?, personally if she told me that "it was nothing to worry about n shouldnt have rung the cops" and she was related to the person that was assaulting that woman I would have just blanked her and further helped the police in trying to track them down, what silly bint thinks it's no big deal that a relative of theirs is punching some woman in the face.

well what im saying is should have i rung them in the first place? the cops rung me about 15 mins later saying they couldnt find the person in question and if i had any more info(which i didnt) and explained on the phone that i was told that with this couple it was normal and i should not have rung the police
