Will it arrive on friday? or would I have to choose saturday delivery?

Just to get the obvious out of the way, is there any particular reason for going AM2? The Core2Duos outperform the equivalently priced X2s and they overclock better generally as well.

What is your budget here? I'm sure someone can offer you a better overall system and probably cheaper too. :)

The GTX is £80 more though isn't it?

I got a reply from OCUK and they said if I ordered it for saturday delivery I should get it this saturday.

Ok I got bored. I don't know if you need a case but I've included one anyway. You have a fast CPU at stock but with a lot of potential for overclocking, 3ghz+ is not uncommon. An 8800GTX although for a 20" screen it might be overkill slightly at the moment. The hard drive is changed from a Raptor as it is nearly as fast but costs less and comes with over 4 times the capacity. Most of the rest is based on parts you had picked yourself. :)

I strongly recommend going for an Intel Core 2 Duo if you are going to be spending this much money. As Semi-pro says the Intel's outperform the AMD dual cores even at stock, but the interesting factor is that they can be overclocked intensely when they are combined with a good motherboard and RAM. So to go for an AMD in my opinion would be foolish, Intel holds much better value for money. My brother went down the AMD route and I went Intel recently and he has since sold all his AMD stuff to move to Core 2 Duo because of the issues I have mentioned.

Semi-pro's spec above is a great one. A high-end performance bang for buck system.

Only my personal preference really but here goes,

Scrap the AMD2 processor and mobo, Go intel core2 duo 6600 or there abouts and get a gibabyte D3 mobo to match.

Scrap the raptor and get a sata2 Western Digital with 16mb cache, there about as quick. Raptors are getting on a bit now and not really much quicker if at all. Raptors are veru noisey !

Scrap the PSu and go for a 650watt Antec triple something or other, its been highly praised lately.

Don't buy a 8800 O2 card, buy a cheaper one and overclock it.

Couple of money saving questions

Do you need the sound card ? on board sound really isn't all that bad.

Do you really need 60cm sata cable ? the mobo will probably come with a few of these.

Do you feel brave enough to go down the VISTA route ?
