Bit of an odd one but I have a bit of a thing for the Wasabi made Katsu curry sauce. I've tried the Japanese golden curry brand - from hot to mild - and a few other premade cube brands, but they seem to be missing the overtly savory, possibly white pepper accent from both the takeaway and the reheat at home boxes.

I looked at the ingredients but I don't know if it's just the ratios? Does anyone know what flavour I'm missing in a home made version?

Try these. I got them from Bargain Buys in Stoke, 3 for £1, but I reckon any of the bargain stores might stock them.

Commerical wasbi flavour is just basically horseradish, there is very little real wasabi in it. So add some horseradish into your curry next time you make it.

How does this compare to the Wasabi brand flavour if you've tried both?

@Raymond Lin - 100% there is no hint of rwasabi in this one - heat is similar to white pepper with zero nose tingle!

Had the duck gyozas not long back, but not had the Katsu in a while so can't really compare. I will say this though, those Yo! packs are nice and do have a bit of heat to them.
