hi all

I'm trying to get back into pc gaming after many years on the dark side (watching ROTJ on itv, sorry) but struggling a bit with mouse and keyboard.

I'm loving the mouse to track and shoot infinitly better than a pad but I can't for the life of me get used to WASD etc. Is there any alternative - I'm thinking of something like the wii nunchuck for movement, keeping a mouse for aiming.

thanks for the replies people. I've tried the arrow keys, there a little easier to get on with but for the life of me i'm struggling to use any keys effectively. This coming from gaming on c64 when you were forced to use keys most of the time as the microswitches in the joysticks failed faster than a zephyr 360.

I want to blame my ps1/2 xbox360 for this problem....

This seems ideal - have you used one? Saves me dropping 50 large on a decent keyboard that i'm going to struggle to game with anyway.

Please god not another arrows vs wasd thread.

Not really... But arrows vs wasd is a good argument to resurrect now the gfx fanboys haven't got one :p

i havent actually used one but i remember seeing one out of the box in a shop once and having a feel, it felt comfortable but i dont really need one as im fine with the keys ;)

Cheers, good for you. PC ***** seem to carry these so will call in when I pass and give one a feel. Have posted in wanted section in case anyone has one they don't like.

Use a Xbox360 controller with Xpadder to move/walk etc and then your mouse for aiming.

Depending on your mouse you can still set approx 12-16 commands.

Try it you might like it!

Time to google this, this is almost exactly what I was looking for. If it works well I might have to mod an old controller so it's not so bulky / heavy for one hand use.

my advice is just stick at it

I found it weird at first going to WASD from the arrow keys (played Doom 2, then Half Life)

WASD is 10x better though

Have just installed fallout3 goty edition, played through the standard game to death on the xbox and loved it long time. VATS means I don't need to be that profficient with the wasd yet, by the end of it I might have warmed to keys a little more.

I've had a few hours playing FO3 using my shiny new 4870x2 :) and tbh it is getting easier. Hit the xbox aain for a few rounds of GoW3 and the pad felt awful.
