Washed out colours with 360 via VGA?

On Dell or Samsung monitors, there is this fix:

But has anyone tried it? I want to but don't want to ruin my monitor.

i use a samsung 940MW and colours are fantastic over VGA.

ahh i got excited then but it doesnt work on my dell w2600

yep - at the default settings blacks weren't black, they were a darkish grey colour which was noticable against the undrawn bands of black top and bottom that you get when using 1080p on a 1200 pixel screen so i knocked the offset 2 figures down until the blacks in the signal matched the black top and bottom bands.

These are all lcd right ? I dont think this problem occurs with crt
