Cars nearing the 10 year mark and despite being well kept, things keep breaking! Time for a new car, I think. Anyway, latest problem:

There's nothing coming out of my washer nozzles, front or rear with no sound coming from the little washer motor whatsoever. I've checked for loose wiring but all seems fine. Any ideas? Replacement washer motor? I'd take the entire tank out but that would mean disassembling the trim surrounding the top of the engine bay and wipers which is too much of a faff if it turns out to be something simpler.

Next on the list seems to be seat belt warning lights flashing, even when the seat belts are on.... French electrics, eh! :p

Thanks in advance! :)

Sounds like the pump has died. Take it out and test it. Unlikely that the stalk has broken but you never know, especially with French cars. :p

I doubt there is a specific fuse for it?

You may be able to get at the washer pump if you take the wheel arch liner out...........just guessing at the moment as that is how i get to the one on my hyundai. However i actually have my wifes clio sat in the garage wasting away and i have a clio haynes manual around somewhere, i will see if i can find it and have a look for the washer pump in it.

Mine pump did this on my 172 about a month ago. I removed all the trim/wipers/wiper motor and pulled out the pump.

The pump casing pulls apart (with some force) to reveal the impellor and a rubber seal. It seems that over time the rubber seal had either expanded or sagged and was pushing down on the impellor, stopping it from turning.

I used a stanley knife to trim the rubber seal thickness down which relieved the pressure on the impellor and allowed it to spin.

I reassembled and all has been fine ever since.

I had the same issue over the weekend, what an absolute b1tch to take apart. Passenger wiper wouldnt come off. Got the pump out of the bottle and the bottle split. Shouldnt complain too much at 190k.. Been a good reliable car but its not that easy to work on !
