Where the water jets shoot into the tray is all mouldy and a bit blocked on our washing machine.

It usually moulds up and someone will clean it all out with a toothbrush or similar.

Two questions...

Why does it mould and can we do anything to prevent it?

Can I safely use the Karcher Pressure washer to blast all the mould away or is there risk of water getting into other places?

It's a Zanussi machine.

Cheers,

Chris

the tray should be removable with a bit of up or down wiggling etc...in which case Blast it all ya want.
The tray does come out.

The mould is around the holes where the water jets out into the tray. If you take your tray out and look along the top of the tray hole you will see what I mean.

Put it on a boil wash with a small capfull of bleach in there. It purges the machine of all life, smells and spores.

I've noticed some machines are worse than others for this, but short of cleaning it out and running hotter washes there's not much you can do about it.

Yep, bleach is the baby to use ;)

Chuck something in the machine though, an old garment that you don't want/need, not good to run them without anything in.
