Try a hairdryer to warm up the plastic if it's that tight.
I removed the whole hose, seemed easier undoing the red wheel on the machine end. I think I need 3/4" cap to go on that valve.
Then yes that brass end cap is what you need. Take it to screwfix or wherever you're off to double check thread.

Just as well, my laundry basket is starting to honk a bit
I know that feeling well. My machine gave up the ghost right before a bank holiday weekend, so I had to wait even longer for the delivery of my new machine.
On a positive note, there's nothing like a few loads of laundry to help you familiarise yourself with the machine.![]()
They're going to text me Monday night to give me a 3 hour window so I don't have to stay in all day.
Sounds like the programme selector has gone doubtful you'd find a replacement a machine that old its probably mechanical rather than electronic and not worth it the expense/hassle anyway.
Did you buy the rubber washer to go with it as it won't seal without it?
Toolstation sell the brass caps without the washer for some odd reason, whereas Screwfix and others come with the correct washer.

The blanking caps that come without a washer can be used with a standard washing machine hose washer. Toolstation and Screwfix both sell those washers for about a £1 for 10.
Was it this one, for £1.89? If so, I might get one for my hot outlet, just for peace of mind. I am weary of the one review which states it doesn't come with the rubber washer shown in the picture.
All ok now and ready for installation.
So heavy to manouevre though compared to the old machine! Talk about sad, I'm sitting here watching the whole cycle like it's a TV
