So the replacement seal I bought 18 months ago got fitted yesterday, fairly straight forward however I cannot for the life of me get the inner retaining band affixed properly.

It's a Samsung (can't remember the part number but I don't think it's important for this part!). The picture should be fairly self explanitory...

The retaining wire sits in a small channel on the face of the drum and the two ends overlap past eacother and are held in place by the screw. Though I am about an inch short of grace and no amount of heaving returned any joy.

Logic would dictate it must not be seated properly in the channel but as far as I can see & feel, it is. I've tried a bit of washing up liquid too should the metal/rubber friction be a culprit but still no joy.

Are these just a pig of a job to fit or is there a special tip/trick I don't know about? :o

the screw should already be in the thread before putting it on the drum. As you will want to unscrew it to tighten the seal

Ahh, this makes sense :) Thank you.

And also explains why unscrewing it wasn't yielding any joy when trying to remove it before giving up and just pulling the seal off :p
