What would be the best way to wash the entire thing?
Is it safe to put this thing in the washer? or to even get it soaked wet with soap or something.

I have the boogie bug xl which seems to be identical I think all I do is get a sponge with some soapy water give it a good scrub then wipe it down with a cloth and leave to dry in the sun (if we are lucky enough to have any).

I spray Flash bathroom foaming cleaner at it and gently rub with a micro fibre cloth that's been rinsed in warm hot water, then I rinse the cloth out and wipe again then leave to dry in the airing cupboard.

I usually just wipe mine down with a damp cloth but put it through the washing machine last week. It turned out fine after drying over the radiator (turned off), it lies just as flat as it did before.

What about the edges, any extra fraying/separating apart of the layers?

I washed mine last week and dried it in the airing cupboard, looks box fresh again,

40 degree quick wash in my washing machine by itself. Good as new. They do start to come apart at the edges after a few washes but how often are you going to wash it if you try to keep it clean along the way and like suggested above use some wet wipes.
