Waste of money CPU upgrade?

Hi All,

Got the upgrade bug, but not sure what to do. Came across the 8Pack speed binned 4930ks and now tempted, the only problem is, that even if that chip reaches 4.8 on my rig, my 3930k is rock solid at 4.8 too (albeit with a fairly eye watering 1.475v) , is there going to be any real advantage of the newer generation chip?

I know... middle class problem and all that...

I really wouldn't bother. If performance on that socket has been following a similar trend to 1150 then you might get a 5-10% increase. Is it worth it for the money that you would have to spend?

I do use some Adobe apps a fair bit for work, after effects and photoshop etc. I also play with VMs a fair bit, but yes, it is a bit silly... It only had 32 until I came across a matching set of memory on an auction site for a really good price. Couldn't resist...

And yes, it does game a fair bit too...

Thanks, kinda what I thought. Those CPUs are about 400 and my 3930 is worth 300 at best.

Not worth it for that sort of improvement.
